Who I am
My name is Patricia Da Silva and I am a Pilates instructor. I recently was certified through Polestar Pilates, a discipline that focuses on post-rehab pilates.
I started pilates about 8 years ago when I injured my left knee and had both a meniscus repair and an ACL reconstruction. I realized that years going to the gym and working out for long periods of time without a full understanding of the body and how it works well was not helping me, it was hurting me. I turned to pilates to find relief and started to learn how to move properly and with efficiency and started to feel much better in my body. As a result, I have changed how I look at exercise.
As a cleaning services business owner for many years, a profession that requires copious physical work, I have developed osteoarthritis in my right knee and wrist, making work difficult on a daily basis. Learning pilates has helped me understand how proper alignment of the body and learning different movement patterns can help eliminate some of the pain.
Overall, I am grateful to pilates as it has made a big difference for me by helping me to move more efficiently, reduce pain and build strength in a more balanced way.
Throughout this journey, I’ve learned to respect my body, listen to others, move with awareness, and understand that sometimes we need to slow down and give a body what it needs. I’ve really enjoyed learning more about the body, especially anatomy and how the muscles and bones work together.
What I love the most teaching pilates is knowing that it’s not just about me, but it is about making a real difference in someone’s life and seeing that change happen.
Teaching goes beyond exercises, it’s about care, connection, motivation, inspiration and helping people move and feel better in their own body. I look forward to working with you to guide you through your pilates journey!
